August 6, 2025Dan Moyane (born 3 August) is a South African seasoned broadcaster and author. He is best known as an anchor for the 24-hour news channel eNCA (formerly known as the eNews Channel).
The broadcast veteran has worked for many top stations. He cut his teeth in broadcasting as a reporter for Radio Mozambique’s English service and worked for the BBC. He hosted the talk show The Big Debate on eNCA.

Early Life
Dan Moyane was born on 3 August in Soweto, southwest of Johannesburg, South Africa. He spent his childhood at his parents’ home in White City, Jabavu, Soweto.
Education
Moyane obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Witwatersrand in 1994. He pursued a Global Executive Development Program at the Gordon Institute of Business Studies in 2001.
Career
Dan is a storyteller. He has more than 40 years of experience in journalism, media, and communication. He began as a trainee reporter and progressed to become a news editor.
He worked as a newsreader and later became a talk show host. Later, Moyane worked from station manager of 702 to executive chairperson of Primedia Broadcasting.
Moyane worked as a freelance journalist for the BBC from 1985 to 1991. He started working at 702 after moving back to Johannesburg. He had left South Africa before 702 was even created.
In 1993, he became the assistant editor and started filling in for some of the regular presenters.
Dan did his first live broadcast on 21 May 1994 at Mandela’s inauguration. He has also interviewed prominent leaders in Mozambique and South Africa.
The broadcast veteran became acquainted with the likes of Graça Machel and Nelson Mandela. He covered the transition of the country into democracy.
He works as a news anchor on eNCA and is a strategic marketing consultant at Momentum Metropolitan Holdings Limited. In 2010, he was inducted into the MTN Radio Awards Hall of Fame.
Dan is the chairman of Momentum Metropolitan Foundation and chairman of AceCubePR. He has also written a book titled I Don’t Want to Die Unknown, a memoir inspired by his journey.
Personal Life
Dan Moyane and his wife, Odete, have been happily married for over 40 years. They met in Maputo in 1982. He has four children.
